MY STORY
My name is Leonardo Porro.
I’m a young composer, music producer, and songwriter from Milan, Italy.
Music has been shaping my life from the very start, when at the age of four I started my musical studies on the violin, and a few years later I was selected as a private student by Milan’s Conservatory First Violin, Daniele Gay.
After years of classical studies, at the age of 15 I started training as a guitar player. At the age of 18, I started taking vocal lessons with vocal coach Francesca Touré (lead singer for Delta V). At the same time, I joined as an intern in “Quiet Please!” Recording Studio, run by renowned and award-winning composer and record producer Ferdinando Arnò. Under his wings, I was able to take my first steps in the art of record-making as I learned the rudiments of music production and engineering.
In 2016, I was accepted at the prestigious Berklee College of Music (Boston), and I was awarded a Vocal and Songwriting Scholarship. During my time at Berklee, I honed my skills as a musician by performing as a singer-songwriter and in multiple bands throughout the Boston Area, by practicing new instruments such as piano and electric bass, and by studying music production and orchestration under illustrious professors such as Shawn Slade (record producer for Radiohead), Chrissy Tignor (Mixing engineer for Bastille), Bill Elliott (Broadway Grammy-nominated composer and orchestrator). In 2020, I graduated from Berklee Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Contemporary Writing & Production.
Yet my journey was just getting started…
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, I was financially forced back into my high school bedroom. From there, I began my career as a record-maker and composer.
I released my first EP, “First Blood”, in 2021. All of its tracks debuted on more than 90 Spotify playlists from all over the world. I was even invited by the industry legend Mauro Pagani to play an hour-long live set at the renowned “Officine Meccaniche” Recording Studio, where I performed alongside him.
Working as a songwriter, top-liner, and music producer, I had the privilege of helping shape the sound of dozens of talented artists from all over the world. Among them Jules Walcott, Lina Cooper, Albert Marzinotto, Kleak&Veebu, Elisheva, and many more. I collaborated with record labels and music publishers such as Warner Music, ADA Music, The Orchard, Frenquency Music, and more.
In 2023, I landed my first record with a major distributor. For ADA Music (Warner), I produced the EP “Sola a Casa e Altri Sbatti” for Italian indie-pop singer-songwriter Jess. Later on, I performed as keyboardist alongside Jess on the stage of Back To Talent (2023 Edition), Milan’s local musical contest. At the end of a thrilling night, we were awarded first prize.
Both the record and the contest were featured on popular news outlets such as Rolling Stone and Billboard.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been obsessed with sound in movies.
I can still remember what it felt like to listen for the first time to eternal masterpieces by composers like Ennio Morricone, Joe Hisaishi, John Williams, Howard Shore, and Hans Zimmer. It was right there and then that I realised that my greatest dream would be to one day score movies on my own…
I began my journey as a composer by writing for commercials in 2022 for COOP (one of Italy’s most popular supermarket chains), first as an assistant through Screenplay SRL and later as a freelance lead composer. These compositions were aired on national TV and in movie theatres nationwide.
In 2025, I was asked to arrange the musical "Francesco - Questo Voglio Questo Cerco", written by composer Antonio Torella, for the Italian national theatre company "Compagnia della Rancia". This project aims to celebrate the figure of St. Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his death with a modern musical approach, inspired by masterpieces such as “Hamilton” and “Jesus Christ Superstar,” as well as a contemporary pop production style. I will also be orchestrating said musical for the Genova Symphony Orchestra at the "Carlo Felice" Theatre.
Of particular interest in 2026 is my current role as film composer on the first horror film by Italian director Federico Rigoldi, as well as my demo soundtrack for the videogame "CAT ISLE" placing 4th (as one of the finalists) in the Indie Game Music Contest (Spring 2026 Edition). Furthermore, in July 2026, I became a part of the endorsement program by the music tech company "Audio Modeling”, with whom I’m currently collaborating on multiple creative projects and initiatives.
